A CHAMPION'S GUIDE TO XI COMMON PROBLEMS
Written by Leonardo Delizo, PhD, MSBA

PART XI HOW TO TURN FAILURE INTO SUCCESS

1. Failure. Hold the thought that no failure is permanent, but that it is only a temporary setback in a successful life. Failure is an incident that can be woven into the tapestry of creative achievement. Remember, failure is only temporary.
2. Wrong. Failure may be defined as the wrong way to do something. Therefore, failure has advantageous elements in that it tells us how not to proceed. And when you know how something should not be done, you are in a better position to learn how it should be done.
3. Learn. While you may learn from your failures by discovering how not to proceed, you may learn more effectively from your successes by discovering how to proceed rightly.
4. Never. Never accept failure. Keep the failure context out of your thoughts. Infuse your mind with success concepts.
5. Think. Remember the sign Thomas A. Edison had on his office wall: “There is a better way to do it; find it.” And how do you find it? By prayer-motivated discipline and creative thinking.
6. Diligence. No success can be attained in this life without diligence. Work and more work, diligently applied, is the “open sesame” to successful achievement. The ability to do the laborious tasks and keep on doing them is essential to successful outcomes.
7. Goal. All successful people a goal. Not a fuzzy, indefinite objective, but a sharp, clearly-defined, specific goal. No one can get anywhere unless he knows where he wants to go and what he wants to be or do. Have a definite, prayer-oriented goal.
8. Right. Be sure that your goal is a right one, for nothing that is wrong will ever turn out to be right. Wrongness results in wrongness. Only rightness produces rightness, so be right.
9. Ask. To be certain you are doing what you ought to be doing with your life, ask God for direction. In the last analysis, only the God-directed life can attain true and basic success.
10. Way. The sure way to success is the way of unselfish prayer. Adopt the thought that you want to do the most good in the world, and achieve the best values --- not just for yourself but for all people --- and you will bring your total experience into the area of successful motivation.
